SOMEBODY SHOOT THAT BIRD
Words: Gretchen and Bill Roper
Music: "The Caissons Go Rolling Along"
She was wooed, she was wed,
Then he took her home to bed.
And the Tarbird was singing his song.
Next he went off to fight.
Left her crying in the night.
And the Tarbird was singing his song.
But he took a dart
In the lung and not the heart.
In any case, he wound up dead.
So the lady swore and cried
Then committed suicide.
And the Tarbird was singing his song.
Dorsai live, Dorsai die.
Loved ones cry and curse the sky.
And the Tarbird goes singing his song.
Dorsai wander from home
For their souls were meant to roam.
And the Tarbird goes singing his song.
That's the end of our song
'Cause it isn't very long.
There's nothing more that must be said!
Now our principals are dead
And this song's stuck in your head
And the Tarbird goes singing his song!
