ASPRIN'S BOLD DI
Words: "Irving Quiznowski"
Music: "Blacksmith of Brandywine"
And make it one for Gordy D. and all his Dorsai men.
And one for Bob Asprin's bold DI!
Make it one for the final book I'll never live to see.
And don't forget to shout out "Shai, Dorsai!"
As we took off from Torcon 2, there was a tragedy.
A Freas painting gone to a culprit for a song and not a thing to see.
And all around, where fans abound, was total disarray,
Until Robert A., he boldly took the stage - and the DI were born that day.
Chicago called. They wanted us to guard their trekkie con.
The Klingons were seen in Time Magazine, 'n' the whip was used for fun.
Now all the guests were hard to find, but none like George Takei.
And in the end they crashed and burned, and demanded to know why!
Then New York made an offer they simply could not refuse.
The Hotel overbooked; the ConChair was a crook; and a riot did ensue.
Ten thousand fans, they did surround ~ with just two dozen men.
Though they got through, they were screwed, they'll not touch Trek again.
There was Big MAC that wanted help, this time it was Worldcon.
Then they backed out, but with Art Show clout, the DI still were on.
An author, he got trapped without an escort, Poor Heinlein.
But then DI rushed in from the side, just in the nick of time.
And make it one for Gordy D. and all his Dorsai men.
And one for Bob Asprin's bold DI!
Make it one for the final book I'll never live to see.
And don't forget to shout out "Shai, Dorsai!"
